Alcohol is certainly not unpopular here in the United States – in fact, it is anything but. While it is of course very important to drink responsibly, enjoying alcohol at social events and special occasions is a perfectly healthy thing to do and can lead to a very enjoyable and relaxed night.
First, it’s important to talk about the different types of alcohol that have become prominent and popular here in the United States. Wine, for one, is a type of alcohol that can be enjoyed at pretty much any time, anywhere. From drinking a few glasses of wine at a wedding to even just having a glass of wine to help you unwind after a long day of work, wine is immensely loved by all different people. This can be clearly seen by the fact that there are now more than seven thousand wineries in all parts of the United States, a number that only continues to rise with the demand for wine.
Though wine is well loved across all demographics, wine is a particularly beloved type of alcohol for the Millennial generation. Millennials love their wine, and recent data even shows that the Millennial generation alone drank more than forty percent of all the wine produced in and imported to the United States over the course of a year. Millennials are also likely to splurge on their wine, with more than fifteen percent willing to spend more than twenty dollars on just one bottle. In comparison, other generations spend much less, with only around five percent of the Baby Boomer generation also willing to spend this amount of money on a single bottle of wine.
Wine stores have perhaps become so popular because the average wine store offers a great deal of variety. When it comes to alcohol, we already know that the varieties can seem endless, from wine and spirits to beer and ciders. But wine in particular is diverse, divided into reds and whites, of course, but divided even more within those broad categories. There are five top varieties of wine, including Cabernet Sauvingnon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, and Pinot Noir, but these are not the only types of wine on the market today. And on top of this, there is even diversity and variety within these five wines, within even one of these types of wines. There is so much that goes into cultivating the flavor and experience of a wine that no two will be exact the same, something that many people appreciate and cultivate a highly refined taste for.
But wine is far from the only popular alcohol in the United States. Beer has also remained incredibly well loved, and there are now more than four thousand and two hundred breweries open all throughout the country. In fact, we now have more domestic breweries than ever before here in the United States, a number that will only continue to grow in the years that are to come, as the love for beer is certainly not going anywhere. After all, as much as fifteen percent of the population of the U.S. will drink at least one beer a week, if not even more than that. The rise of small and independent breweries is a testament to this, as beer as an alcohol is become much more refined and artisanal than it ever has before. Such is this success that the craft beer market now makes up as much as twelve percent of the total market for beer in the United States.
There are many occasions to responsibly drink alcohol – beer, wine, and spirits alike. From birthday parties to going out for a special occasion, alcohol can be an enjoyable addition to your evening. Weddings, for instance, represent the perfect celebration to indulge yourself, if only just a little. And weddings are immensely common in the United States, with around two and half billion occurring every single year, meaning that there are usually more than forty four thousand of them every single weekend in just this country alone. At weddings, drinking is common, and many people use it as an opportunity to let loose a little.
